So this is a touch late, but wtf. 2017 was amazing. My band took off, got into Metal Hammer twice! Myself as an artist have become way more established, always busy with commissions and audio work now which is what I wanted. The Twitch channel grew some and shows promise in growing more, especially since I showed my face at TwitchCon 😀
Plans for this year are to record and release the I the Betrayer album, along with a new electronic EP that is almost complete, as yet unnamed and still having things decided upon. Stream music creation more regularly on twitch, either commissions or personal musical journeys depending on if people mind their songs being streamed.
Working on new endorsements, can’t say anything about who it is yet but it’s in the works.
I’m looking forwarad to 2018. 😀
I’ll do better to keep this updated.
It finally happened. I got my shit together and released the single. Go check it out in all its glory.
So I have been rebuilding the studio, and it looks a bloody mess. It’s serviceable for now so I can create but it’s not even close to optimal. Anyone wanting to visit is going to either be arranged for in about a month’s time or will have to ignore the mess.
I still have one wall to finish and some shelving etc to put up, plus get the acoustic treatment in, should be done asap. I’ve decided to name it The Riffinery. Because any name that alludes to something metal is a-ok in my book 😉
And yes! I might well be producing my own signature line of guitar picks with my endorsing company, Winspear Picks. I love the feel and hardness of these and have been thinking about ways to develop a certain shape, size, thickness and feel that would best allow me to play guitar optimally and with the most comfort possible. More news as this happens, but I’m excited!
The new ITB video should be out in the next couple of weeks, and after that we’ll be hard at work getting our new single out as well as gigging all over Norway (and afar).
Do you know the feeling of answering questions about your band from the one and only Metal Hammer? Now I do! Of course the issue has been published and is out in the world, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Honestly I was a little unsure of which issue the interview would even have been published in, since the only messages I got were “answer these questions and grant us a license to publish your song on our covermount CD.” So I figured both the song and interview would appear in the one issue. That’s not the case, first was the song then in the next issue, the 90s issue, I was leafing through and BAM, there’s the ITB picture, my interview and my quote. The interview was attributed to Terje by mistake, since I never wrote that I wrote it 😀 My own fault.
I’ve been reading Metal Hammer since I was young, picking it up every now and then in more recent times. To see something I’d created in there is definitely a bucket list item, and I’m just blown away! 😀
I was asked to share my thoughts on my favorite track on Dream Theater’s album Images and Words for its 25th anniversary as the band prepare for a five date tour of the UK.
Check out what I and other great musicians had to say about it here.
I’ve been invited to join the Dark Forces stream team, a collection of like minded individuals that stream whatever they may please. I’m excited to accept the invitation and get some metal making underway on the team!
So the I the Betrayer EP is DONE! FINITO! I ended up doing all the mixing and mastering myself, so if it sounds a bit hairy in places… Shut up 😛
It’s releasing on the 5th June on iTunes, Google Play, all the usual places and we’re doing a run of physical CDs as well. More info on that as it comes.
My new studio, now named The Riffinery, is underway. We’re putting up a new wall soon and then audio treatment will happen after that. Finally got all the video equipment for the new Youtbe channel, things are happening!
I also replied to Chapman Guitars’ tweet with an EPK and an email detailing who I am and why I love them, fingers crossed!!
I have some time for commissions now, so if you need music for any event send me an email! Or use the contact page. 😀
Until next time,
So when I signed up for Twitter, I chose @theangrybassist as my username, simply because that’s what/who I am.
For some reason, when I signed up for Twitch, I decided to combine my name and my favorite genre of music, DeathMetalKyle (where DMK comes from).
Since this has become my identifier in more than one way, on more than one website, I’ve decided to change the Twitter name to reflect this.
May all things be unified. Make us whole. Altman be praised?
